Cornwall Coastal Cabin
Perched high up on Whitsand Bay, the cabin represents a sanctuary and retreat from the pace of modern life. Inspired by Scandinavian hygge principles, the interior has been carefully curated using neutral tones and natural materials to instil a sense of peace, calm and tranquillity, whilst also keeping functionality in mind.
Having received planning permission, the proposal is expected to start on site in 2024.

The exterior is clad in black timber and standing seam zinc to compliment the dark tones of rock projecting through the cliff’s vegetation. While the simple shed-like form, and low-pitched roof, responds to the local vernacular of cabins spread along the bay. A Robust design is essential here to withstand the harsh marine environment and prevailing southwest winds.
