Devon Coastal Home
A project undertaken whilst at HUT Architecture, Alex led the design and project management of this coastal home. Set within an AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) the apartment was extended and refurbished with much consideration given to opening up the coastal views and sense of space within the flat.
The beautiful natural setting and coastal views took centre stage when designing the space, so the material palette selected wouldn’t fight it. White walls were used to the foreground of any openings that provided a key view, so the emphasis was on the changing coastal colours through the seasons. Texture was introduced into the space with a neutral clay wall render and timber wall cladding, used locally within the vernacular.

AB.Co
A modest washed oak extension to the rear provided the utility space the flat needed to connect the living spaces to the outside. Inside, AB.Co carefully curated a sophisticated, yet welcoming ambiance, using a restrained and neutral palette that elegantly complements the breath-taking vistas. This exclusive project creates a serene retreat that celebrates the beauty of nature and modern living.
